Races

Sorry for not posting for a while, I am getting back into it now.

Over the weekend I race in the memorial hall crit. I raced the 3/4 and the Pro 1,2,3. I finished 4th in the 3/4 which came down to a sprint, and finished in the field in the pro 1,2,3 which also came down to a sprint. Overall it was a good weekend.

Derby

On Wednesday for the derby 8 of the Rite Aid Guys showed up. Immediately at the turn around they went. The 50 person group completely shattered. The 8 rite aid guys, Kyle Womsley, me, and two other locals were in the break. Rite Aid kept on the front the whole way back. It was the fastest derby I have ever been on. I ended up third in the sprint. It was pretty cool to take third with 9 out of 12 riders in the break being pro.

Branch Brook 1,2,3 and Training Crits

Last weekend I race in Newark, New Jersey. I raced the 1,2,3 and finished tenth. The race came down to a sprint. And in the training crit last weekend I finished 6th but raced really well. This weekend I just did the training crit, i got in the first break with Billy Ellison and Kyle Womsley we stayed away unntil about 15 to go when 5 other riders from the chase group bridged up. All together Womsley, Ellison and I stayed away for about 25 laps then the chase caught us. I dropped back to the field after a sprint when I blew with 8 to go. The break lapped a field a couple of laps later after I went back to the group. Therefore I probably finished around ninth because of the 20 point bonus for the leaders. I also got the BH and it is Bad Hass. Well thats it.

Training Crits and Good Weather

There is one more of the industrial park training crit and each week the weather is getting better and better. It was about 45 degrees on sunday and hardly any wind. There was a break of about 5 that stayed away. I took second in the first sprint, and won the field sprint of about 35. Thats pretty much it.

High 30s sounds good

The weather hasnt been so bad the last couple of days. I got out on the derby on Sunday and it was about 50 people. By the end there were around 20 of us. I finished 2nd. The industrial park training crits start this weekend, and they are notorious for below freezing temperatures and snow squarrels. Slowly the racing will pick up here in Pa. But till then the trainer will be my best friend. Besides KBB.

About Me

Hey everyone, I saw that people were posting information about themselves, so I decided to do the same.

My name is Epes Harris, I live in a small town in Pennsylvania called Macungie and it is about five miles away from the T-Town velodrome. I have been racing for about 4 years mainly on the track. Over the years I have grown to like the road a lot too. Two years ago at nationals I won the 15-16 points race, and finished 3rd overall. Last years nationals did not go so well, because during the first race of the 2007 nationals I crashed and broke a couple of ribs. Luckily the other juniors and I were still able to capture a silver medal in the team pursuit later on at nationals. I also placed third at Somerville Criterium which is probably the biggest junior crit on the east coast. This is year is a new year though and I look forward to once again racing with everyone from the team. I am looking forward to winning the gold this year in the team pursuit after coming so close last year.

Derby Win

Training is going well. Working hard all the time. The weather was nice on Sunday so I rode the T-Town Derby. There was actually a good turn out of about 60 people. Like usual it came down to a big sprint. I came into the last corner about 15th. As people tried to make their moves I was able to advance to front. From about 300 meters away I jumped from about tenth and took the win. It was my first derby win. So it was pretty good week for me.
